John Carroll Upends Wooster 2-0
John Carroll University scored early in each half and managed to hold off several scoring opportunities for The College of Wooster, leading to a 2-0 Blue Streaks’ victory during non-conference women’s soccer action Tuesday night at Don Shula Stadium. Wooster (5-3) peppered the John Carroll goal with 18 shots, compared to nine attempts for the hosts, and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks, but could not find the back of the net for the second consecutive outing. The Scots’ offense was shut down by nationally-ranked Otterbein College Saturday. Individually, the stars for the Blue Streaks were Caitlyn Walton, who scored both goals unassisted in the 21st and 52nd minutes, and Michelle Zrebiec, who made seven saves to preserve the shutout. In goal for Wooster, Sara Flannelly and Kodi Kassell each played one half and came up with four saves apiece. The Scots will be right back in action at home late Wednesday afternoon when they take on Heidelberg College (2-5) at 5 p.m. |
