The College of Wooster women's soccer team's best start to a season came to an end on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 13) as host Walsh University made a 1-0 lead hold up, despite several rallies from the Scots, who had won their first five matches.
Walsh's Kristen Boyne first-half goal accounted for the only score in the match, as her loft shot from the 18-yard marker found its way past Wooster goalie Becca Scina.
After being outplayed in the first half, including being outshot 8-2, the Scots regrouped and owned a 7-2 shot advantage in the second half, but they could not get the ball past Kristi McFarland.
Scina had six saves, while McFarland preserved the Lady Cavaliers' victory with seven stops.
Wooster will look to bounce back on Wednesday (Sept. 17), when it plays on the road at 5 p.m., against Mt. Vernon Nazarene University (5-0).
