WOOSTER, Ohio - The College of Wooster women's lacrosse offense exploded for the second-straight game at Carl Dale Memorial Field, as the Scots matched the single-best goal output in program history on Thursday afternoon in their 26-6 victory over Oberlin College in North Coast Athletic Conference action. Wooster, which equaled the 1984 squad’s single-record of 26 goals in a win over Ohio Wesleyan University (26-12), improved its record to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in league play this spring, while the Yeowomen slip to 2-7 and 0-3 in the NCAC.

In the opening few minutes, the two teams traded goals and were tied at 2-2 at the 22:34 mark of the opening half, when Taylor Fey scored the second of two goals sandwiched around Wooster scores from Cassie Brown and Jess Baylor.

Following a Wooster goal with 21:59 left on a quick pass from Taryn Higgins to Nina Dine, the Scots called a timeout. From that point on through the remainder of the half, the Scots played inspired and outscored Oberlin by a 12-3 count for a 15-5 halftime advantage. During that key stretch, Wooster reeled off an 8-0 run that spanned 8:05, and featured two goals apiece from Hillary Darragh and Higgins, along with a free-position goal by Carly Carey.

Out of the halftime intermission, Wooster put together a 7-0 run, and the defensive unit held the Yeowomen scoreless for a 28:21 stretch that went from 6:43 left in the first half to 8:22 showing on the clock in the second, before Fey netted her third goal of the game on a free-position shot.

The Scots' attack was relentless on Oberlin goalkeeper Kaitlin Barrer, racking up a season-high 43 shots and capitalizing on two of their three free-position attempts. Higgins led the way with a five-point day coming on three goals and two assists, while Darragh (four goals), Carey (three goals, one assist), and Baylor (two goals, two assists) finished with four-point games. Becca Worthington ended her day with a hat trick, including a free-position goal, and Dine tacked on two goals and a helper.

Jamie Dannenberg played all 60 minutes in the net for Wooster, making 15 saves in the convincing victory.

Fey paced the Yeowomen with four goals and two assists, while Scarlett Prati and Elizabeth Gula each added one score. Barrer made eight saves for Oberlin between the pipes in the loss.

Wooster continues conference play this weekend when it travels to Gambier, Ohio, and squares off with Kenyon College (7-1, 2-0 NCAC) on Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m.
