Erica Frazier-Young was one of three Wooster players to score a hat trick against OWU.

Erica Frazier-Young, Kendra Hull, and Megan Sward each produced hat tricks, leading The College of Wooster to a 17-7 North Coast Athletic Conference win over Ohio Wesleyan University during women’s lacrosse action Saturday morning (March 27) at Carl Dale Memorial Field.

Wooster (3-2, 1-0 NCAC) staked out to a 5-0 lead midway through the first stanza, with Sward scoring the game’s first two goals on free position attempts. The visiting Battling Bishops (4-1, 1-1 NCAC) followed with a mini-run of two scores, but the Scots answered with three during the final 5:01 to take an 8-3 lead into the halftime break.

The second half played out similarly. Wooster scored three in a row, including two by Frazier-Young, and the Scots eventually secured the double-digit margin of victory.

Also producing multiple goals in the win were Ashley Arnold, Lizzie Newton, and Mary Risley, each with two.

Ohio Wesleyan’s Liz Stockdale and Carrie Williams had three goals apiece.

Splitting time in the goal for Wooster were Nicki Hunt and Becky McAtee, as the duo combined for eight saves — four in each half — while the Bishops’ Libby May made eight saves on the Scots’ 36 shots.

Wooster will next a trip to the Washington D.C. area for a couple of games next weekend.
