| Allison Harrod scored a career-high
five goals to lead Wooster past College of Notre Dame 13-8. |
Sophomore midfielder Allison Harrod broke out for a career-high
five goals on Sunday (April 4), leading The College of Wooster
womens lacrosse team to a 13-8 win over College of Notre
Dame (Md.) in its lone game played during a weekend trip to the
Washington D.C. area.
Wooster (4-2) had been scheduled to play Villa Julie College
on Saturday (April 3) as well, but due to inclement weather, that
game was cancelled.
Harrod, who entered Sundays contest with two goals on
the year, did most of her damage at the end of the first half,
when the Scots turned a 3-1 deficit into an 8-4 halftime lead via
a 7-1 rally over the final 10 minutes. Harrod found the back of
the net four times during that stretch and she was assisted on
each by Ashley Arnold, Helena Iaquinta, Kate Finefrock,
and Mary Risley in that order.
Wooster added three of the first four goals of the second
half to make it 11-5, and cruised on to the five-goal decision.
Along with Harrod, scoring leaders for the Scots were Arnold,
who threw in a pair of goals to go with the assist, Katie Graham,
who tossed in two goals, and Megan Sward, who passed out
two assists.
Lori Baran paced Notre Dames attack with two
goals.
Wooster goalies Nicki Hunt and Becky McAtee each
played a half, both making seven saves and allowing four goals,
while the Gators Monique Boone had 15 saves on 35
Scot attempts.
On Wednesday (April 7), Wooster returns to league play with
a trip to Wittenberg University (1-4, 1-1 North Coast Athletic
Conference), starting at 5 p.m. |
