Helena Iaquinta's goal with under 10 minutes to play helped Wooster secure an 11-9 win over Brockport St.

Helena Iaquinta's unassisted goal with just under 10 minutes remaining stopped a 4-1 run by the State University of New York (SUNY) at Brockport, and helped propel The College of Wooster to an 11-9 win - its sixth in a row - during non-conference women's lacrosse action Friday at Carl Dale Memorial Field.

SUNY Brockport's (6-4) second-half rally saw the visiting Golden Eagles trim an 8-4 margin to one (9-8), and after Iaquinta's score, they got it down to one again at the 5:40 mark (10-9).

Wooster (8-2), though, would not allow the equalizer, eventually putting the game away on a goal by Allison Mione, assisted by Megan Sward, with just :07 left.

The key juncture may have come late in the opening half, when the Scots scored five unanswered goals, including two apiece from Sward and Katie Graham, during a 5:41 stretch that made it 7-4 at the break.

Sward, Wooster's top scorer, led the way again with three goals and an assist to boost her season total to 39 points. Other multi-point outings came from Graham and Lizzie Newton, who passed out two assists. For SUNY Brockport, Angela Inzinna and Lauren Kerwawycz each produced hat tricks.

In goal, Nicki Hunt and Becky McAtee each played one half for the Scots, combining for 13 saves - four for Hunt in the first and nine for McAtee in the second - to preserve the victory, while the Golden Eagles' Ashley Taylor stopped 11 Wooster shots during 60 minutes of action.

Wooster will return to the field Sunday for a rematch of last season's NCAA Tournament opening round, as currently undefeated and No. 9 ranked Colorado College (9-0) comes to town for an 11 a.m. start.
