The College of Wooster used an 11-2 run from midway through the first half to the midpoint of the second, turning a 3-2 game into a rout, and Wooster went on to defeat visiting Indiana University of Pennsylvania 16-6 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon (March 29).

Wooster (2-1), which also beat NCAA Div. II I.U.P. last season (16-9), got 11 of its 16 goals from the trio of Beth Hemminger, Megan Kennedy, and Helena Iaquinta. Hemminger scored on all five shots she took, bringing her team-leading point total to 11 on the season, while Kennedy and Iaquinta each had hat tricks.

Other multiple-point scorers for the Scots on Saturday were Megan Sward, who had one goal and a pair of assists, and Erica Frazier-Young, who tallied one of each.

In goal, Wooster continued splitting halves for Nicole Hunt and Becky McAtee. Hunt played the first and left with a 9-4 lead after making 10 saves, while McAtee only needed to make four stops in the second to preserve the victory.

For I.U.P. (1-4), Amy Hood led the way with three goals and an assist, while the Indians used a pair of goalkeepers, who combined for just seven saves on the afternoon.

The Scots begin North Coast Athletic Conference action this Wednesday (April 2), with a trip to Oberlin College (N/A), which also hasn't played a league game yet, at 4:30 p.m.
