Beth Hemminger set or tied three College of Wooster women's lacrosse games during Saturday's (April 12) 20-9 Scot victory at Alfred University in upstate New York.

Hemminger's career day consisted of 12 points, which equals the school's single-game scoring mark previously done once by Kate Messer in 1996, coming on five goals and a Wooster-record seven assists. Her third record came in the career department, as Hemminger is now the Scots' all-time scoring leader with 253 points on 136 goals and 117 assists after breaking a tie with 1995 graduate Meg Wood (241).

Hemminger, who is within striking distance of the North Coast Athletic Conference scoring record held by former Denison University great Laura Peace (292), scored the game's opening goal on Saturday.

Alfred (3-7) quickly evened it up at 1-1, but Wooster responded by scoring eight unanswered goals during a 8:38 stretch to take firm control of the non-league contest. The Scots added three more tallies over the last six minutes of the half to take a 12-1 advantage into the break.

The two teams played an even second half (8-8), but it was too little, too late for the Saxons.

Joining Hemminger with big scoring games were Helena Iaquinta, Allison Harrod, and Megan Kennedy. Iaquinta found the back of the net four times in the second half and finished with five goals, Harrod contributed a hat trick, and Kennedy totaled three points on two scores and an assist.

Nicole Hunt played a solid first-half in goal for Wooster, making five saves.

The Scots, now 6-1 overall, appear ready for a key stretch of three-straight NCAC contests this week, starting Tuesday with Kenyon College (6-1, 3-0 NCAC) at home at 4:30 p.m.
