The College of Wooster put together its finest offensive performance of the year on Wednesday (April 17), doubling up host Kenyon College 20-10 in North Coast Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action in Gambier, Ohio. It marked Wooster's first 20-goal game this spring after reaching that mark twice in 2001. After going back-and-forth with Kenyon early on, the Scots methodically pulled away, turning a 3-3 tie into a 9-5 advantage at the break. The big blow came when Wooster scored the first five goals of the second half to take a nine-goal lead and never was ahead by less than six the rest of the way. Individually, the Scots' Megan Kennedy led all scorers with seven points coming on five goals and a pair of assists, while Miriam Esber and Beth Hemminger registered five points apiece in the win. Esber's came on a hat trick and two helpers, while Hemminger scored just once but passed out four assists. Also posting multiple-point days for Wooster were Ashley Arnold, Erica Frazier-Young, Molly Spirer, and Emily White. Spirer had two goals and two assists, Frazier-Young found the back of the net three times, and Arnold and White contributed two scores apiece. Leading the Ladies was Melissa Blum, who scored four unassisted goals. In net, the Scots' Kim Christensen outdueled Ruth Crowell. Christensen made nine saves to help secure the victory, while Crowell produced 16 saves on 41 Wooster shots. The Scots, who upped their overall record to 6-4, will put their perfect NCAC mark (3-0) on the line this Saturday (April 20) at Wittenberg University (5-4, 3-1 NCAC) at 1 p.m. | ||
