Women's Lacrosse Ends Spring Trip 1-1

Box Score

After winning its first season-opener since 1996 with a 13-6 victory over M.I.T. on Thursday, The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team had to settle for a split of its two spring-trip games in Panama City, Fla., after losing to Wesleyan (Conn.) 11-5 on Friday.

Wesleyan (1-1) took control of the game early, scoring four times within the first 10 minutes of the contest. Goals by sophomore Miriam Esber, senior Maggie Buckingham and junior Jessica Critchlow in a span of nine minutes in the middle of the first half cut the Cardinal's lead to 5-3, but Wesleyan scored again just before halftime to take a 6-3 advantage.

The Scots threatened to make a comeback early in the second half, as freshman Megan Kennedy and Buckingham scored around a Wesleyan goal to cut the Cardinal lead to 7-5. That would be as close as Wooster would get, however, as Wesleyan scored the final four goals of the game to win going away.

Despite giving up 11 goals, sophomore Kim Christensen played well in goal for the Scots, stopping 17 shots.
