Wooster Blasts St. Vincent 17-1

In a game that was not scheduled to be played until two days ago due to a cancellation by Hood, the College of Wooster women's lacrosse team hosted St. Vincent and coasted to a 17-1 win this afternoon (April 2) on a wet Cindy Barr Memorial Field.

The Scots scored twice in the first minute of the contest and five times in the first seven minutes en route to a 13-0 halftime lead. Wooster, which improved to 3-2 in 2000, outshot the Bearcats by a margin of 31-5 on the day.

Fourteen Scots scored led by freshman Beth Hemminger, who registered three goals and an assist. Senior Maggie Buckingham also contributed four points to the winning cause coming on two goals and two assists.

In addition, senior Sarah Hibler had three points on one goal and two assists, while freshmen Heather Horne and Megan Kennedy scored two goals apiece.

Sophomore Kim Christensen made four saves in net and recorded the victory.

Wooster will hit the road for a pair of games next week, including a conference game at Allegheny on Wednesday, April 5, at 4:30 p.m.
