Box Score

The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team received a four-goal performance from freshman Megan Kennedy, as the Scots defeated Division I Canisius 10-4 in Buffalo, N.Y., today (April 22) at the Demske Sports Complex.

With the win, the Scots increased their season-high winning streak to three games and improved to 7-4 overall, while the Golden Griffins fell to 1-11.

Wooster gained an early 2-0 lead on goals by freshman Beth Hemminger and senior Maggie Buckingham. After Canisius cut the lead to one, Hemminger and Kennedy scored back-to-back goals to make it a 4-1 game. The Griffins cut the margin to two with less than a minute to play in the first half, however, Hemminger scored on a free position shot as time expired to give the Scots a 5-2 advantage at the half.

Wooster scored the first two goals of the second half before Canisius went on a mini-run to cut the lead to 7-4. Buckingham scored to end that run, followed by a pair of late goals by Kennedy.

Wooster received a strong performance from sophomore Kim Christensen, who registered 15 saves in goal.

The Scots will look to continue their winning streak when they play at Kenyon on Wednesday, April 25, at 4:30 p.m., in a North Coast Athletic Conference match-up.
