High-percentage shooting on the offensive end mixed with some solid goalkeeping by sophomore Kim Christensen keyed Wooster to a 17-3 victory over Allegheny in a pivotal North Coast Athletic Conference women's lacrosse game this afternoon (April 5) in Meadville, Pa. The Scots, who entered the game with an identical 1-1 NCAC record to Allegheny's, outshot the Gators 31-16, however, Wooster hit the back of the net 17 times, while Christensen stopped 13 shots. Keying the Scots' offensive explosion was senior Maggie Buckingham and freshman Beth Hemminger. Buckingham scored six goals and tallied an assist, while Hemminger produced a two-goal, six-assist effort. Junior Katelyn Connolly also had a big game, scoring three goals and dishing out three assists in the winning cause. Wooster freshman defender Megan Kennedy added five points on three goals and two assists. Also, sophomore Miriam Esber scored twice and junior Jessica Critchlow had one goal and an assist for the Scots. Wooster, which saw its mark improve to 4-2 in its first season under the direction of head coach Liz Grote, will face a challenge in its next game, as the Scots visit Division II Indiana (Pa.).
