Ashley Arnold

Senior midfielder Ashley Arnold (Columbus, Ohio / Thomas Worthington) capped off a stellar lacrosse career at The College of Wooster by being selected to participate in the NCAA Div. III North-South Senior All-Star Game, becoming the first Fighting Scot to play in the game since Beth Hemminger in 2003. Additionally, Arnold was recently selected to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association / US Lacrosse West All-Regional Second Team, where she was joined by teammates Joanna Harrod (Cincinnati, Ohio / Sycamore), Kelley Hubbell (Vienna, Va. / James Madison), Pam Olson (Powell, Ohio / Olentangy), Mary Risley (Northampton, Mass. / East Longmeadow), and Megan Sward (Sewickley, Pa. / Sewickley Academy).

Arnold will put the finishing touches on an outstanding lacrosse career at Wooster by representing the school as a midfielder on the North's all-star squad at the annual STX Farewell Lacrosse Festival, hosted by the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, on Saturday, June 4. The Div. III game is slated to begin at 11 a.m., and will be followed by the Div. II and Div. I games at 1 and 3 p.m., respectively.

Arnold led the Scots with 35 goals this spring, including three five-goal contests, one of which came in the semifinals of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. She finished the season averaging 3.38 points-per-game, ranking her fifth overall in the conference, and earned her second consecutive first-team All-NCAC honor. For her career, Arnold accumulated over 100 points (112) in 63 games and was selected to the all-region and all-conference squads in each of the last two seasons.

Earning her second-straight all-region honor is Harrod, who was a first-team selection as a sophomore last season. She was one of the cornerstones of a defense that limited opponents to just 7.85 goals and 20.2 shots per game. For the season, Harrod finished among the team-leaders in groundballs (23) and caused turnovers (11), as well as collecting two draw controls.

Hubbell, a low-defender, was a key component once again in the Scots' backfield. In fact, she finished up with team highs in both groundballs and caused turnovers with 27 and 17, respectively. Hubbell, an All-American with Wooster's field hockey program last fall, never played lacrosse until coming to Wooster, but developed into a two-year starter.

Olson was the anchor of a Scot defense, which held seven of 13 opponents to five scores or less and allowed only four to post more than 10 scores. She caused nine turnovers and picked up 13 groundballs, while starting the final nine games of the regular season. Offensively, Olson scored one goal on six shots.

Risley ends her career with the Wooster lacrosse program by earning her first all-region distinction. As one of the team's leaders, she was a key component on both sides of the field, helping the offense by scoring 14 goals on 43.8 percent shooting, while contributing to one of the best defenses in the conference. Risley also finished among the team leaders with 12 groundballs, 29 draw controls, and 10 caused turnovers. For her career, she tallied 49 points in 55 games.

Rounding out Wooster's all-region selections is Sward, who picks up her second regional honor after earning first-team accolades a year ago. As a junior attacker this spring, she finished third on the team with 26 goals and led the squad with 49 points and 23 assists. Sward was one of the most dangerous scoring threats in the league, finishing second in scoring with 3.77 points-per-game, including a conference-best 1.77 assists-per-game. For her career, she is already tied for eighth on Wooster's all-time scoring list with 158 points coming on 93 goals and 65 assists.

As a team, Wooster finished 9-4 overall and 5-1 in league play to grab the No. 2 seed for the NCAC Tournament. Unfortunately for the Scots, their streak of three consecutive league titles came to a halt in the tourney semifinals with a loss to eventual champion Ohio Wesleyan University.
