Ashley Reid is going into her second year as an assistant
coach with the women's basketball team. She will be in charge of recruiting
and working with the post players.
Most recently, Reid was part of a successful program at Walsh University, where she served as graduate assistant coach for two years, earning a master's degree in education. She led court instruction, specializing in the development of post players, and was responsible for assisting and facilitating Walsh's women's basketball camps. The Cavs had an 11-17 record in her first season as an assistant, and finished 2005-06 with a 16-13 overall record.
Reid also completed her undergraduate degree at Walsh, where she was a four-year starter on the Cavs' basketball team, leading them to a national ranking in her senior season. Reid ended her career as Walsh's No. 2 scorer with 1,725 points after leading her team in scoring all four years, including averaging 16.3 points a senior. She stands fourth in the Walsh record books in career field goal percentage (.500) and fifth in career rebounds (827), and was twice named the university's co-Female Athlete of the Year (2003-04). Reid garnered first-team All-American Mideast Conference South honors three times during her career, in addition to being tabbed the AMC South Freshman of the Year in 2001. Also, she was a Kodak All-American honorable mention selection in 2004. Reid graduated from Walsh in 2004, earning a bachelor's degree in education.
In addition to coaching experience, Reid also taught a sixth grade classroom at Allen Elementary School in the Canton City School District.
Originally from Zanesville, Ohio, Reid led Philo High School to its first-ever
state tournament appearance. Reid currently resides in Massilon with her
husband, Sheldon.
