Hall Earns Honorable Mention on All-NCAC Team
Michelle Hall (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon) became the fourth College of Wooster post player in the last three seasons to be named all-conference, as the league office announced Thursday that the sophomore center received honorable mention on the 2004 All-North Coast Athletic Conference Team. Hall joins former Scot greats Nara DeJesus and Kristen Rice, and current teammate Alexis Louttit as an All-NCAC selection. All four used their post-up ability to produce solid scoring and rebounding numbers. This year, Hall, who averaged 3.4 points and 3.6 boards in limited action as a freshman, was inserted into the starting lineup due to a preseason injury to Louttit. Hall thrived in her new role, as she finished with a team-high average of 11.0 points as well as 7.5 rebounds, which was second-best on the squad. Those numbers put her among the top-20 in the conference, including ninth in rebounding. Hall led the NCAC in free throw percentage for several weeks during the season, but slipped to sixth (.724) in the most recent statistical update. She also finished up with the fourth-highest field-goal rate (.457) in the league and No. 10 in blocks (0.77 per game). As a team, Wooster was 9-9 in late January before its starting point guard suffered a season-ending knee injury, and the Scots went on to drop seven of their last eight for a 10-16 record. In the NCAC, Wooster was 3-6 and in a tie for sixth before the injury led to a 4-12, seventh-place finish. |
