What is the “W” Association?

The “W” Association is an alumni organization of The College of Wooster that is subject to the governing policies of the College. The purpose of the “W” Association is to:

1. Support intercollegiate athletics at Wooster.
2. Honor alumni athletes who are outstanding in their accomplishments and others who have been outstanding supporters of the athletic program of the College.

Annual gifts to the “W” Association Fund help to support more than 500 student-athletes representing the “Black and Old Gold” on 22 intercollegiate teams at Wooster -– 11 for men and 11 for women. Your contribution also helps to publish Sportsline, our quarterly “Scots Sports Page.” Most importantly, the “W” Association provides financial support for special projects that benefit all of our student-athletes, such as the John M. Swigart Fitness Center.

Membership

The “W” Association was founded in 1909 and is made up of men and women who received letters as participants in Wooster’s intercollegiate athletic program, and women who participating in intercollegiate sports before varsity women’s sports were established. Associate membership in the organization will be extended to any person who is interested in supporting the intercollegiate athletic program at The College of Wooster.

Lifetime Pass

Upon graduation, all varsity lettermen and letterwomen are issued a W” Association card. This card allows the holder to attend all College of Wooster sponsored home athletic contests free of charge. Can’t find your card – need a replacement – let us know w_assoc@wooster.edu or call 330-263-2325.

Athletic Hall of Fame

One of the most notable programs of the Association is the maintenance of Wooster’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Every other year, the “W” Association Board of Directors selects Wooster’s most accomplished athletes for induction to the Hall of Fame during Homecoming weekend.
