The College of Wooster will close out its 2007 home schedule this week, as it welcomes a pair of North Coast Athletic Conference foes to Timken Gymnasium. Wooster will look to continue to hold onto third-place in the league standings when it first hosts Allegheny College (11-12, 3-6 NCAC), which is part of a three-way tie for fifth, on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. The Fighting Scots came back from a two-game deficit to edge Allegheny 19-30, 24-30, 30-27, 30-21, 15-13 earlier this season (Sept. 18). This Friday night, Oct. 19, will mark the final home appearance for three seniors – outside hitter Carolyn Ciriegio (Covington, Ohio / Covington), setter Heather Wolff (Mansfield, Ohio / Madison Comprehensive), and middle hitter Erin Wright (Akron, Ohio / Walsh Jesuit) – as Wooster welcomes Oberlin College (3-16, 0-10 NCAC) for a 7 p.m. contest. The Scots were missing one of their top players due to injury when they got past Oberlin 30-18, 30-17, 23-30, 30-21 on Sept. 28, which marked their 12th win in a row over the Yeowomen.

Last Week: Wooster split a pair of 3-0 conference matches, moving to 11-13 overall and 6-4 in the NCAC.

On Oct. 12, the Scots made quick work of host Earlham College, sweeping the Quakers 30-26, 30-19, 30-28. It marked the program’s 600th all-time victory in its 41st season of existence. Wooster played one of its best offensive matches of the season, hitting at a .215 clip as a team. Heather Wolff (Mansfield, Ohio / Madison Comprehensive) passed out 43 assists on 50 total kills, spreading the ball around to Carolyn Ciriegio (Covington, Ohio / Covington) and sophomore KateLynn Riley (Westlake, Ohio / Westlake) among others. Ciriegio tallied 15 kills, while Riley added 14. Defensively, junior libero Ali Drushal (Lakeville, Ohio / West Holmes) dug out 17 balls and Wolff totaled four blocks.

On Oct. 13, No. 2 ranked Wittenberg University was too much for the Scots, as after falling behind in game one, the Tigers pulled away to a 30-19, 30-22, 30-21 decision. Junior Megan Earle (Middleburg Hts., Ohio / Midpark) led Wooster’s offensive attack with seven kills and Wolff contributed 23 assists on the afternoon. Drushal had 18 digs, while Ciriegio and Riley totaled three blocks apiece.
