Ali Drushal

College of Wooster sophomore Ali Drushal (Lakeville, Ohio / West Holmes) was named the 2006 North Coast Athletic Conference Libero of the Year, the first ever Scot to earn the label, as announced by league officials on Saturday, Nov. 4, in conjunction with the NCAC Tournament championship match. Joining Drushal on the all-league team were a pair of senior middle hitters in Ashley Quisenberry (Springfield, Ohio / Springfield Catholic Central) and Erin Schaffner (North Canton, Ohio / GlenOak), who were selected second-team and honorable mention, respectively.

Drushal picked up her first all-conference recognition in volleyball, earning a spot on the second-team, after being the Scots’ defensive ace for the past two seasons. Drushal, a three-time All-NCAC honoree in track & field, played in all 105 games this season, registering 842 digs and breaking the school’s single-season record in that category, a mark previously set by Becky Rolfs (748) in 2003. Drushal led the Scots and the NCAC in digs per game (8.02) and averaged 0.37 service aces per game, ranking first on the team and sixth in the conference in that category. In only two seasons with the Scots, Drushal has amassed 1,389 digs, placing her in third amongst Wooster’s career leaders. Drushal racked up a whopping 50 digs against Baldwin-Wallace, in her best outing of the season.

Ashley Quisenberry

After a year’s hiatus from the team, Quisenberry returned for her senior campaign and took home second-team accolades, her second career postseason honor (she was a first-team selection in 2004). She was an all-around producer for the Scots, leading Wooster, as well as the entire NCAC in blocks (1.33 per game), while also finishing second on the team in digs (3.71 per game) and third in kills per game (3.02). In addition, Quisenberry was third on the team with 31 aces, for an average of 0.30 per game. Her 139 blocks this season ranks her third-all time at Wooster in single-season blocks, while she sits in second-place all-time with 376 career blocks during her three years wearing a Scot jersey. For her career, Quisenberry has accumulated 134 aces, good for fourth all-time and 1,228 digs, placing her fifth all-time in that category. Her best outing of the season came in a victory over Oberlin, where she smashed a career-high 21 kills, adding 13 digs and three blocks.

Erin Schaffner

Rounding out Wooster’s All-NCAC selections is Schaffner, who earns the honor for the first time as a senior. Schaffner has been an asset to the Scot lineup for the past four seasons and actively led the team in kills in 2006, pounding 3.33 per game, also ranking her seventh in the NCAC. Schaffner was second on the team in blocks (0.78 bpg), also ranking amongst the league’s best with the eighth-highest blocks per game total. Her 350 kills this season, places her eighth all-time at Wooster for kills in a single season, while she ends her career second all-time in career kills, with 1353, only trailing former teammate Tiffany Rice (1,750). Schaffner has tallied 198 career blocks, good for fifth all-time Wooster history, and also accumulated 107 service aces during her career, placing her sixth all-time in the Scots’ record books. Her best performance of the season was a 19-kill, two block showcase against Penn State Altoona.

For the year, Wooster finished just below .500 with a 14-16 overall record and an 8-8 mark in league action, winding up in fifth-place. This marks the first time since the 2003 season that the Scots did not qualify for the four-team NCAC Tournament.
