After losing three matches during Saturday?s action at the Kilt Classic, The College of Wooster looks to get back into the win column while opening the North Coast Athletic Conference portion of its schedule this week with two road contests. First, the Scots will travel to Oberlin College (2-2) on Tuesday, Sept. 12, for a 7 p.m. face-off. Wooster swept Oberlin in three-straight games during the 2005 season (30-23, 30-13, 30-27) and has not lost to the Yeowomen since 2000. On Friday, Sept. 15, the Scots will be at defending NCAC champion Hiram College (7-1) in their second match of the week. Opening serve is again slated for 7 p.m. Wooster went 1-2 versus the Terriers in 2005, with the Scots winning a 3-1 decision at the Capital University Invitational (30-27, 29-31, 30-26, 30-25) and Hiram taking the regular season NCAC match-up by a 3-1 margin (30-28, 30-24, 32-34, 30-28) as well as their NCAC Tournament semifinal meeting in three (30-24, 30-19, 30-24).

Last Week: On Sept. 8-9, Wooster finished 2-3, good for fourth-place at its own eight-team Kilt Classic. The Scots picked up both victories in Friday night's opening round of pool play, defeating Bluffton College in four (30-22, 30-20, 32-34, 30-23) and Roberts Wesleyan College in five (28-30, 24-30, 30-27, 30-26, 15-9). Wooster didn?t fare as well on Saturday, dropping matches to Malone College (30-23, 23-30, 13-30, 26-30), Mt. Union College (13-30, 30-28, 26-30, 27-30), and Urbana University (25-30, 30-25, 28-30, 20-30) in a rematch of last year's championship tilt.
Leading the way for the Scots over the weekend was defensive ace Ali Drushal (Lakeville, Ohio / West Holmes), who recorded 147 digs (7.00 per game) from her libero position, thus earning her a spot on the all-tournament team. Carolyn Ciregio (Covington, Ohio / Covington) finished first on the squad in kills (72), while Ashley Quisenberry (Springfield, Ohio / Springfield Catholic Central) posted a team-high 27 blocks, to go with 57 kills. In addition, fellow veteran Erin Schaffner (North Canton, Ohio / GlenOak) helped give Wooster a boost, totaling 62 kills and 21 blocks over the five matches, while sophomore setter Abbie Casey (Marion, Ohio / Marion Pleasant) contributed 9.95 assists per game as well as six kills, eight service aces, and 14 digs.
