This week will be a busy one, and an important one, for The College of Wooster volleyball team, as it takes on three North Coast Athletic Conference opponents, in addition to a non-league match. The Fighting Scots are currently in fourth-place in the league standings and the top-four at the end of the regular season advance to the NCAC Tournament. On Tuesday, Oct. 17, Wooster will welcome sixth-place Allegheny College (7-16, 3-7 NCAC) to Timken Gymnasium at 7 p.m. The Scots will be looking for the season sweep, previously defeating the Gators 30-27, 30-27, 30-28. This weekend, Wooster will be on the road in eastern Indiana and western Ohio, starting with a tilt Friday night, Oct. 20, at seventh-place Earlham College (12-11, 3-8 NCAC) at 7 p.m. Earlier this fall, the Scots completed a three-game sweep of the Quakers (30-24, 30-14, 30-20). On Saturday, Oct. 21, Wooster will be on the campus of Wittenberg University for a tri-match with NCAC-leading and No. 13 ranked Wittenberg (22-6, 11-0 NCAC) at 1 p.m., followed by its final non-league match of the year against the College of Mount St. Joseph (18-9) at 3 p.m. The host Tigers already posted a sweep of the Scots this season (30-16, 30-20, 30-19), while this will mark the first match between Mount St. Joseph and Wooster of the 2000s.

Last Week: The Scots split two matches during a light week, maintaining possession of fourth-place in the NCAC standings and moving to 12-11 overall.
On Oct. 11, Wooster swept past visiting Oberlin College by scores of 30-25, 30-19, and 30-24 at Timken Gym. The Scots were led by Ashley Quisenberry's (Springfield, Ohio / Springfield Catholic Central) career-high 21 kills, to go along with 13 digs and three blocks. Erin Schaffner (North Canton, Ohio / GlenOak) smashed 11 kills and added six digs, while setter Abbie Casey (Prospect, Ohio / Marion Pleasant) dished out 42 assists and a team-high four service aces on the evening. Defensively, libero Ali Drushal (Lakeville, Ohio / West Holmes) finished the match with 23 digs to lead all players in that category.
On Oct. 13, the Scots hosted defending NCAC champion Hiram College and competed well with the No. 16 ranked Terriers, but fell in three (31-29, 30-24, 30-24). Leading Wooster?s effort were KateLynn Riley (Westlake, Ohio / Westlake) and Schaffner, who each posted 11 kills, with Schaffner adding 12 digs. Quisenberry was in the mix, registering 10 kills, 13 digs, three aces, and two assisted blocks. Casey had 35 assists and Drushal contributed 37 digs.

NCAC Player of the Week: For her efforts, middle hitter Ashley Quisenberry (Springfield, Ohio / Springfield Catholic Central) was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week. It marked the first time this season a Wooster volleyball player has been so honored. Quisenberry combined for 31 kills (5.16 kpg), 26 digs (4.33 dpg), and five blocks (0.83 bpg).
