Mathematically eliminated from the four-team North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, The College of Wooster will be playing for pride this week as it wraps up the 2007 campaign with a pair of league home matches. First, on Wednesday, Oct. 24, Wooster hosts Allegheny College (10-5, 5-2 NCAC), currently in a third-place tie, as the Scots look to spoil the Gators’ chances of a run at the NCAC championship. The two
programs have been evenly matched historically, with Wooster holding a slight 12-11-2 edge, however, Allegheny prevailed 3-1 last fall. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m., at Carl Dale Memorial Field. This Saturday, Oct. 27, the Scots welcome in visiting Earlham College (5-11, 2-5 NCAC), which enters the week in ninth-place, for a 3:30 p.m. match. Wooster is 20-7-2 all-time against Earlham, including last season’s 1-0 shutout win.
Last Week: The Scots lost their only match, slipping to .500 overall (6-6-2) and into seventh-place in the NCAC (2-3-2).
On Oct. 20, host Denison University received a hat trick from Ryan Linn, shutting out Wooster by a 3-0 count during a conference tilt. All three of Linn’s goals came in the first half, as Denison had a three-goal cushion just 26:58 into play. Statistically, Patryk Tenorio (Tawas City, Mich. / St. Stephen’s Episcopal – Texas) collected one save during the opening half, while Jordan O’Boyle (Hudson, Ohio / Western Reserve Academy) notched four saves during the second. |
