Adam MilliganThe North Coast Athletic Conference picked junior Adam Milligan (Orrville, Ohio / Orrville) as its Athlete of the Week in men’s soccer for the second time this season, and third such honor of his career, after the 6-2, 185-pound forward led The College of Wooster to two more victories.

Milligan accounted for four of Wooster’s five goals last week, including both in the squad’s 2-1 overtime win at then-No. 6 ranked Ohio Wesleyan University on Oct. 15. He then had another pair during a 3-0 shutout of Earlham College on Oct. 18, converting on both shots that he took.

Milligan’s ninth and 10th career two-goal games put him in the lead for the 2003 NCAC scoring title at 1.92 points per game — 11 goals and three assists in 13 matches — and will likely vault him into the national leaders when the statistics are updated by the NCAA. Also, Milligan eclipsed the 25-goal mark for his career last week and has moved into eighth-place on the school’s all-time scoring list (63 points).

The Scots recent wins over nationally-ranked Denison University and Ohio Wesleyan boosted them into the No. 5 spot in this week’s regional ranking (Great Lakes). Wooster, 8-2-3 overall but 5-1-0 in the league, has an opportunity to host the NCAC Tournament for the second year in a row, but will likely need to win out the rest of the regular season, starting with a trip to Hiram College (2-13, 0-5 NCAC) on Saturday (Oct. 25).
