Taylor's Hat Trick Not Enough Against Kenyon

» Box Score

Austin Taylor scored three goals, but The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team lost 15-6 to host Kenyon College late Saturday afternoon (March 29).

Although the two schools are members of the North Coast Athletic Conference, it was a non-league game, as their other meeting this year - April 23 at Wooster - will count towards the NCAC standings.

Kenyon (4-2) scored three-straight goals to start the contest, but Steve Burton put an end to the bleeding midway through the first quarter. The Lords answered with two more, but Taylor made it a 5-2 game early in the second quarter. Kenyon then took control of the game with four unanswered scores to end the half (9-2).

In the second half, Taylor added two more, and Joe Costello and Peter Park also notched goals, but it would not be enough to make a serious threat at a comeback attempt.

Goalie Courter Shimeall made 15 saves on the Lords' 35 shots, while Kenyon starter Dave Neiman produced 10 saves before being pulled in the fourth quarter.

The Scots (2-3) will try and get back in the win column this Wednesday (April 2), when they travel to Oberlin College (N/A) for an NCAC contest at 4 p.m.
