Tylka, Van Horn Among Top-25 and Scots Finish Seventh at Denison
The College of Wooster golf team finished in the middle of the pack at this weekend’s (April 8-9) annual Ted Barclay Invitational, hosted by Denison University at the Granville Golf Course, as the Scots put together rounds of 319 and 308 for a 627 total and seventh-place overall in the field of 13. DePauw University (597) won the team championship, followed by Baldwin-Wallace College (603) and host Denison (611) and Olivet College (311) in a tie for third. Brandon Tylka led the Fighting Scots for the second week in a row, covering the par-71, 6559-yard course in a 12-over 154 (80-74), which put him in a tie for 17th-place individually. Teammate Andy Van Horn was in the 70s each day (77-78), tallying a 155 in all, good for a top-25 showing (tie for 23rd). Also scoring each day for Wooster were Patrick Lynch and Jim Ipema, and they tied for 33rd (82-76=158) and 42nd (80-80=160) in the standings, respectively. Rounding out the lineup was Erik Shoger, who carded 86 and 84, tying for 61st (170). The Scots host their annual tournament, the Nye Intercollegiate, this coming weekend (April 14-15) at the Wooster Country Club. |
