Tilden Wins Fourth Career Tourney and Scot Golfers Finish Second
Michael Tilden took medalist honors for the fourth time in his career, and for the second-straight year, at Kenyon College’s Spring Invitational, while leading The College of Wooster golfers to a runner-up finish during Sunday’s soggy, windy 18 holes at Apple Valley Golf Course in Howard, Ohio. Saturday’s round was cancelled because the course was covered with snow. As a team, Wooster posted a 314, just three strokes shy of Walsh University’s winning pace (311), while Muskingum College (321) and Wittenberg University (325) were the only others to shoot under 340 among the field of 12 squads. Tilden was one of five individuals to fire a 77 and the senior birdied the second hole of the playoff for his third win of the 2004-05 season. Two other Scots joined Tilden in the top-10, as Andy Van Horn tied for sixth-place via a 78 and Tyler Scott’s 79 was good for a ninth-place tie. Rounding out Wooster’s lineup were Joe Punturi and Brandon Tylka, who each shot 80 and were among a group in 14th-place. Next up for the Scots will be a scheduled 36-hole event at Denison University this Saturday and Sunday, April 9-10. |
