For the second consecutive year, The College of Wooster's golf team placed third among a field of 16 at the Ted Barclay Spring Invitational hosted by Denison University this past Saturday and Sunday. The Scots' starting five carded a 604 on the 36-hole, par-71 course at the Granville Golf Club, finishing behind Otterbein College (586) and Denison University (597), respectively.

Wooster was in second-place at the conclusion of day one with a score of 301, two strokes ahead of Denison, but the Big Red came back with the second-lowest round of the tournament (294) on Sunday to grab the runner-up spot.

Senior Michael Tilden led the way for the third consecutive tournament, putting together rounds of 74 and 73, respectively, and finishing in a tie for sixth overall with a 147. Sophomore Andy Van Horn also cracked the top-20 by besting his season average of 76.9 with back-to-back rounds of 75 and finishing tied for 18th with a score of 150.

Additionally, Brandon Tylka and Joe Punturi finished in a tie for 32nd (77-76=153) and 38th (75-79=154), respectively, with the latter putting together his best tournament this spring. Wooster's other starter, Tyler Scott, finished tied for 63rd with a two-day total of 161 (81-80).

The Scots will look to continue their march to the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships by hosting the 1st annual Nye Intercollegiate on Friday and Saturday, April 15-16, on the par-72, 6,454-yard golf course at the Wooster Country Club.
