Matt Elliott's third-place finish highlighted Wooster's performance at the Kenyon Cup Invite.

It was an important tournament for Wooster, which shot 321-317=638, because it gave the Scots a good indicator as to where they stand in the North Coast Athletic Conference and was played on the same course that will be used for the NCAC Championships in less than a month.

NCAC foes Ohio Wesleyan University and Allegheny College finished 1-2 with scores of 604 and 615, respectively, followed by the University of Rochester (626) and John Carroll University (628).

Other conference squads ahead of Wooster were Denison University (630) and Wittenberg University (631), but both are certainly still within striking distance when it's time for the NCAC Championships.

The rest of the field shot 650 or higher, including league opponents Wabash College in 10th (673), host Kenyon College in 12th (676), Hiram College in 14th (704), and Oberlin College in 15th (715).

Elliott carded a 77-73=150, just one stroke shy of co-champions Jeremy Meade and Chad Poling, both of Ohio Wesleyan.

Next for the Scots was Jon Pintado, who turned in a 78-80=158 for a tie for 17th, and Joe Punturi, who tied for 28th overall with scores of 80-80=160.

Additionally for Wooster, Michael Tilden shot 88-84=172, putting him in a tie for 73rd overall, while Jordan Roeschlaub completed the course in a tie for 80th at 86-89=175.

Trying to sort out his starting lineup, Scot head coach Rich Danch also entered three of his players to compete as individuals. Tyler Scott fired 81-86=167, Chris Billow had an 82-87=169, and Paul Hiller completed Wooster's group at 88-82=170.

Wooster's next competition will be at the Denison University Spring Classic Invitational this weekend (April 13-14).
