Scott Leads Scots To Tie For Sixth At JCU Invitational


The College of Wooster freshman Tyler Scott (Loudonville, Ohio / Loudonville) placed fourth in the individual standings and helped the Scots to a tie for sixth-place of 15 teams at the John Carroll University Fall Invitational held at Fowler's Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, Ohio, on Saturday (Sept. 29).

Played over three separate nine-hole courses, Scott shot 40-31-42=113 to finish five strokes in back of medalist Shawn Devan from Baldwin-Wallace College (38-35-35=108), while as a team, Wooster carded 162-153-159=474 to tie with Muskingum College, 20 shots behind Olivet College (454).

Just behind the champion Comets were Baldwin-Wallace (457) and Hope College (459), while Denison University (465) and Mt. Union College (466) rounded out the top-five.

Places No. 8 through No. 15 went to host John Carroll's "A" (475), Lakeland Community College (477), Marietta College (480), the Blue Streaks' "B" (499), Heidelberg College (503), Ohio Wesleyan University's "B" (506), Kenyon College (529), and Wilmington College (609), respectively. 

Individually, tying for 29th were Scot junior teammates Matt Elliott (Wooster, Ohio / Wooster) and Jonathan Pintado (Joplin, Mo. / Thomas Jefferson), as Elliott turned in rounds of 41-36-41=118, and Pintado matched him with 38-43-37=118.

Also for Wooster, freshman Michael Tilden (Delaware, Ohio / Rutherford B. Hayes) recovered from a rough start to tie for 46th with scores of 50-36-38=124, while fellow first-year Jordan Roeschlaub (Scotts Mills, Ore. / Silverton) fired 43-43-42=128 for a 54th-place tie.

The Scots continue their fall schedule at the Urbana University Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 5-6) at Woodland Golf Course and Indian Springs Golf Course in Cable, Ohio.
