Following two days of golf at its own Parlor Restaurant/Wooster Invitational, The College of Wooster linksters may have been fatigued on Sunday (April 21), as they tied for sixth among a seven-team field at the Capital University Invitational at New Albany Links in New Albany, Ohio. As a team, the Scots shot 339 on the par-72, 7,004-yard course to tie with Wilmington College, while Otterbein College finished 1-2-3 individually to capture its second tournament title of the weekend, scoring a 296 after winning the Wooster Invitational as well. Other squads in the event included Denison University (321), Capital (325), Columbus State Community College (332), and Ohio Wesleyan University (338). Individually, Wooster, which rested No. 1 man Matt Elliott, was led by junior Jon Pintado, who tied for 14th of 44 golfers with an 81. Freshmen Tyler Scott was next for the Scots with an 83, tying him for 24th overall, while fellow newcomers Paul Hiller, who tied for 28th (86), and Michael Tilden, who tied for 35th (89), also counted in the scoring. Others competing for Wooster included freshman Jordan Roeschlaub, who matched Scott's round (83); first-year Adam Smith, who carded an 87 to tie for 33rd; and Chris Billow, another freshman who shot a 90 to claim 37th-place. Next for the Scots will be their final tune-up prior to the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, as they travel to Delaware, Ohio, this weekend (April 26-27) for the Ohio Wesleyan Strimer Invitational. |
