Balcken Leads Small Group of Scots at Capital Invite
Due to missing too much class time, The College of Wooster was not
able to field a full team at the Capital University Invitational on Monday
(April 16), so three Scot golfers competed as individuals at the 18-hole
event held at Willows Golf Club in Groveport, Ohio.
Senior Nick Balcken paced Wooster and finished in a tie for 21st
among the field of 56 linksters after entering the clubhouse with a score
of 82. Also for the Scots, sophomore Jon Pintado turned in an 85 to tie for
31st and junior Nate Zahn shot 88 to finish in a tie for 39th during his
first start of the spring.
Winning the team title at the par-72, 6,549-yard course was
Heidelberg College with a score of 314, which included a 76 by individual
medalist Jimmy Newell, who won a playoff against Adam Lescalleet of
Muskingum College.
Next, Wooster will host the 32nd annual Parlor Restaurant/Bank
One/College of Wooster Invitational at Wooster Country Club on Friday and
Saturday, April 20 and 21.
