The College of Wooster’s 17-game winning steak in North Coast Athletic Conference games (regular season only) came to an end late Saturday afternoon, as Ohio Wesleyan University pulled out a 2-0 victory over the Fighting Scots in field hockey action.

Wooster’s streak, which began on Oct. 8, 2005, was just five short of the conference record, held by none other than Ohio Wesleyan (1988-90).

The host Battling Bishops (2-2, 1-1 NCAC) scored right before the halftime break and sealed the outcome on another goal with 7:24 remaining.

Statistically, the Scots (1-2, 0-1 NCAC) were only outshot 10-9 and had four penalty corners, the same as Ohio Wesleyan.

Wooster goalie Izzy Maffetone made four saves in the setback and got help from back Kate Persing, who came up with a defensive save herself.

The Scots will look to start a new NCAC win streak on Wednesday when they host Denison University (1-1, 0-0 NCAC) at 4:30 p.m.
