Wooster, Ohio-- The College of Wooster won its second contest in a row, blanking visiting Transylvania University by a 3-0 score Sunday morning at Cindy Barr Field. The victory marks the Fighting Scots' third shutout in four outings this season and gives them momentum heading into Saturday's North Coast Athletic Conference showdown against Ohio Wesleyan.

Once again, the dynamic freshman duo of Amanda Artman and Brittany Montgomery teamed up to net all three of Wooster's tallies. Montgomery lit up the scoreboard first, when she converted an Artman assist into a goal five minutes into action, for her fifth score of the season. The rest of the half, neither team could find the net, with Wooster out-shooting Transy 6-5 and taking a 1-0 advantage into halftime.

The second half belonged to Artman, as she netted her fourth goal of the season, an unassisted tally, thirty seconds into the half. Two minutes later, Gina Crough fed Artman the ball, who responded with her second goal of the game and fifth of the season, giving the Scots all the offensive punch they would need.

For the game, Wooster out-shot the Pioneers by a 17-7 margin and held a 15-2 advantage in penalty corners.

Defensively, Anne Leigh picked up her third shutout of the season, recording four saves in the effort. Transy goalkeeper Megan Blandford came up with 11 stops for the Pioneers.

The Scots will return to action and resume NCAC play Saturday, September 16 when it travels to Ohio Wesleyan for a 9 a.m. start. The Scots will follow that game with a non-conference face-off against DePauw Sunday, September 10 at 12 p.m.
