Addis, Leickly Picked for NCAA Div. III Senior All-Star Game
Senior forward Anlyn Addis (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Ann Arbor Pioneer) and senior back/midfielder Miranda Leickly (Gahanna, Ohio / Columbus Academy) will represent The College of Wooster at the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Div. III All-Star Game, which is held in conjunction with the NCAA Tournament “Final Four” weekend (Nov. 17-18). This season, the national tournament semifinals and championship game are being hosted by William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y. Addis and Leickly are Wooster’s first selections to the annual event since Julia Tryder in 2003, and they will be the only players from any North Coast Athletic Conference school this year. Addis, a two-time All-Great Lakes and all-conference honoree, has tallied a career-high 32 points on 11 goals and 10 assists in 2006, putting her second in the NCAC scoring race at 1.88 points per game. With two regular season contests remaining plus the postseason, Addis has 96 career points (37 goals, 22 assists), which leaves her just four shy of becoming the fifth player in school history to reach the century milestone. Leickly has been one of the top defensive players for the Fighting Scots throughout her career, earning second-team all-region and first-team All-NCAC status last fall. This year, opponents are averaging less than one goal a game (0.94), and statistically, Leickly has been involved on both ends of the field with two goals, four assists, and one defensive save. The duo has helped lead Wooster to the 2006 NCAC championship, the No. 1 seed for next week’s NCAC Tournament, and a 12-5 overall record heading into Thursday’s home game with Oberlin College (5-10, 3-7 NCAC). |
