The College of Wooster aims to remain undefeated in the North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey standings when it hosts two league games this week. First, Denison University (2-4, 1-1 NCAC) visits Cindy Barr Memorial Field on Wednesday, Sept. 20, for a 4:30 match-up. The Fighting Scots swept the season series last fall, taking a 2-1 home victory and a 3-1 win at Denison to move Wooster?s record to 30-34-1 all-time versus the Big Red. This Saturday, Sept. 23, the Scots will welcome Kenyon College (6-1, 3-0 NCAC) for a game between the only squads still undefeated in conference play entering this week. Wooster holds a commanding 40-11-5 lead in the all-time series against the Ladies, but they split a pair of games in 2005. Each team held serve on its own field, with the Scots winning 3-0 at Cindy Barr Field and losing 2-0 at Kenyon.

Last Week: Wooster split a weekend road trip, winning the more important of the two as it stayed undefeated in the conference (2-0) and moved to 4-2 overall.
On Sept. 16, Wooster helped Ohio Wesleyan University inaugurate its OmniGrass surface at Selby Field, edging the hosts 1-0 in overtime for a conference victory. The game marked the first intercollegiate event to be played on the Battling Bishops? new turf. The two defenses dominated, with just six shots by each team being taken during 70 minutes of regulation. Just over four minutes into the first overtime, though, Katy Baron (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park & River Forest) received a pass from Anlyn Addis (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Ann Arbor Pioneer) and pushed the ball past the Ohio Wesleyan goalie for the win. It was Baron's first goal this season and Addis? fourth assist. Anne Leigh (Englewood, Colo. / Cherry Creek) posted her fourth shutout this year, making three saves in 74:09 of work. Noteworthy, the Scots have recorded shutouts in all four of their wins thus far.
On Sept. 17, DePauw University built a 2-0 lead, including a goal right as time expired at the end of the first half, and hung on for a 2-1 win over visiting Wooster. The Scots got on the board on Brittany Montgomery?s (Glens Falls, N.Y. / Glens Falls) team-leading sixth goal this fall with 7:33 to play in regulation, but couldn?t come up with the equalizer. Leigh helped keep Wooster close with 12 saves.
