Seven College of Wooster student-athletes were selected to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Team, highlighted by repeat selections Anlyn Addis (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Ann Arbor Pioneer) and Lindsay Tingley (Rockville, Md. / Walter Johnson), and first-time honoree Miranda Leickly (Gahanna, Ohio / Columbus Academy), all of whom were named to the first team.

Joining the trio with postseason honors were senior Katelin Bugler (Peabody, Mass. / Peabody) and junior Katy Baron (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park & River Forest), who were second-team selections, and freshman Alli Hall (Shaker Hts., Ohio / Shaker Heights) and senior Sarah Hamerstone (Shaker Hts., Ohio / Laurel School), who received honorable mention.

Addis, an honorable mention selection in 2004, earned her second all-league honor as a forward after leading the team and tying for fourth in the NCAC in scoring at 1.26 points per game. The junior tied for the team lead with a career-high 10 goals in addition to tallying four assists, tied for second on the squad. Noteworthy, Addis posted her first career hat trick this fall in a 5-0 victory over Earlham College, and for her career, she now has accumulated 64 points on 26 goals and 12 assists.

After being selected second-team All-NCAC her previous three years, Tingley made the jump up to the first team in her senior year. Playing as a forward, she finished tied for third on the team in scoring with 15 points on six goals and three assists, with most of the damage coming in the second half of the season. During one six-game stretch, Tingley tallied five goals and one assist, including the game-winning score in a 1-0 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University. For her career, she finished with 66 points on 23 goals and 20 assists, which ties her for sixth all-time at Wooster.

Earning her first postseason distinction is Leickly, a junior who was one of the cornerstones of the Scots’ defensive unit. She missed her first two games of the season due to injury, but returned to play the final 18 and finish third on the team with four defensive saves. As a middle back, Leickly was instrumental in Wooster’s push for the NCAC Tournament, helping the defense hold eight of its last 10 opponents to one goal or less.

Bugler earned her first postseason honor by netting a career-high 20 points as a forward and tying for the team-lead with 10 goals. She finished tied for seventh in the league in scoring (1.02 ppg) and was one of the best in late-game situations, converting a conference-high five game-winning goals, including the go-ahead score against Wittenberg University in the NCAC Tournament semifinals.

Katy Baron

Playing primarily in the midfield, Baron was a key factor in the Scot transition game as she picked up her second all-league honor after being honorable mention in 2003. She started all 20 games for Wooster, tallying one goal and tying for second on the team with four assists. Her lone score proved to be the game-winner in a 2-1 decision at Transylvania University.

Rounding out the Scots’ all-conference picks are Hall and Hamerstone, who each earn their first postseason awards. Hall was a consistent contributor as a first-year, starting every contest and finishing tied for third on the team in scoring with 15 points on an evenly distributed five goals and five assists, while Hamerstone was a force in the backfield, recording five defensive saves and helping Wooster shutout five opponents this fall.

After a 1-5 start to the season, Wooster closed out the year winning 10 of its last 14 to finish 11-9. The Scots went 8-4 in NCAC play to tie for second-place and made it to the conference tournament championship where their season came to a close with a 3-0 loss to regular season champion Oberlin College.
