All-Star

(L-R): Head coach Brenda Meese, Julia Tryder, Alanna Tryder and assistant coach Shannon Roberts at the Div. III North/South All-Start Game.

WOOSTER, Ohio — Senior back Julia Tryder (Lincoln, Mass. / Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) of the College of Wooster was recently selected to play in the Division III North/South All-Star Game, announced the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

It marks the third time in four seasons that Wooster will be represented at the annual game, as Amanda Bernardon and Kate Dunne were part of the 2000 and 2001 NFHCA all-star festivities, respectively. This year, Tryder will be the lone player from the North Coast Athletic Conference as well as the entire West Region competing on one of the elite 17-member teams.

The game will be held on the campus of Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa., on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m.

Tryder, a first-team all-conference and second-team all-region honoree a season ago, is the anchor of the Scots’ defensive backfield, which posted seven shutouts and averaged 1.26 goals allowed on just 10.00 shots during the regular season. Additionally, she has totaled 10 points coming on three goals and four assists, as well as two defensive saves, during 18 starts.

Wooster, 14-5 overall and NCAC regular season tri-champions, begins the postseason on Saturday (Nov. 1), hosting third-seeded Oberlin College (10-6, 9-3 NCAC) at 1 p.m. The winner will advance to the NCAC championship game next Saturday (Nov. 8) at a site and time to be determined.
