Drushal, Schaffner Tabbed Academic All-District
Drushal, who is double-majoring in mathematics and computer science, has been the anchor of the Fighting Scots’ offensive line again, blocking for a unit that is third in the North Coast Athletic Conference in scoring (26.1 ppg) and fourth in total offense (380.1 ypg), despite significant graduation losses. The 6-4, 305-pound left tackle has started all 31 games of his career, is a two-time All-NCAC Team member, including first-team honors as a sophomore, and was a preseason All-American in 2005. Drushal also is a key member of Wooster’s track & field team, having earned four more All-NCAC certificates as a thrower. Schaffner, a biology major who has posted a 4.0 grade-point average in three of her four semesters, was the Scots’ third-leading hitter this fall, averaging 2.39 kills per game. A 5-10 right-side hitter, Schaffner recently reached a milestone, as she became just the fifth Scot to record 1,000 career kills (1,003). She also finished 2005 with a .247 attack percentage, up .056 from last year, and 77 digs and 56 total blocks. Wooster’s football team (6-3, 3-3 NCAC) wraps up its 2005 campaign this Saturday when it hosts Ohio Wesleyan University (6-3, 4-2 NCAC) in a match-up that will sort out the final conference standings, while the Scot volleyball team capped its season last week with a 25-7 record, marking the most victories for the program since 1984. The academic all-district teams are determined by CoSIDA via a vote of top players with minimum 3.20 GPA’s. Wooster’s nominees go up against student-athletes from the college division (NCAA Div. II and III, and NAIA) in the five-state district of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee. |
