- Wooster became the first Div. III school since the 1999-2000
season (Rowan) to have its football, basketball and baseball teams
each win at least one NCAA postseason game (2004-05).
- Wooster was just one of three schools to be ranked in the preseason
Top-25 poll in both football, basketball and baseball in 2005-06.
- Wooster has been ranked in the Div. III Top-25 football poll in nine
of the last 11 seasons.
- Wooster finished the 2004 regular season ranked No. 6 in D3football.com
and No. 7 in the AFCA Coaches Top-25 Polls.
- The Scots posted a 32-10 record over a recent four-year
span (2003-06) — equaling the best four-year streak in school
history.
- Wooster averaged nearly 3,500 fans (3,419) for its five
home games in 2006.
- Wooster had a conference-high 15 players named to the
2006 All-NCAC team, marking the third time in four seasons the Scots
had the most all-conference players.
- The Scots' 64 points against
Wittenberg (11/6/04) were the most points scored against the
Tigers since 1949.
- Wooster set NCAC records for points (84), total offense (791), first
downs (34) and rushing yards (541) against
Kenyon (10/9/04).
- Wooster went undefeated (15-0) in non-conference play for five straight years (2002-2006).
- The Scots have had 17 All-Americans in the past
eight years, including Rick Drushal in 2005 & 2006.
- Head coach Mike Schmitz was named the Ohio College Coach of the Year
after leading the Scots to an 11-1 record and a second-round NCAA Div.
III playoff appearance in 2004.
- Tony Sutton finished his
career holding the season and career NCAC records for rushing yards,
rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns, and all-purpose yards despite
playing just three seasons.
- Tony Sutton became
the first player ever to lead his NCAA Division in rushing, scoring
and
all-purpose yards two straight years (2003 & 2004).
- Wooster has had three players selected to the Div. III All-Star team for the Aztec Bowl in the last five years — Nick Hajjar (2003), Tony Sutton (2004) and Rick Drushal (2006).
- Tony Sutton was one of
10 finalists for the 2004
Gagliardi Trophy, presented to the outstanding football player
in Div. III who honors excellence in athletics, academics and community
service.
- Dustin Sheppard's ('09) 278
rushing yards against Kenyon (11/11/06)
was the fourth-highest total in school history.
- Brandon Good (1995-98) holds the Division III record with a reception
in 40 straight games.
- Two-time all-conference selection Bobby Vega ('05) is currently a Scouting Director for the Cleveland Browns.
- Jack Lengyl, who took over as head football coach at Marshall Univ. following the 1970 plane crash that killed the majority of the football team, was the Scots' head coach for five seasons (1966-70).
- All-Americans Tony
Sutton ('05) and Rick Drushal ('07) both were invited to the Cleveland Browns rookie minicamps in 2005 & 2007, respectively.
- Rick Drushal ('07) was a member of the Team USA football team that captured the 2007 World Championship of American Football championship in its first year competing in the tournament.
- Keith Adams ('08) set a school record for career punt
return yards (1,002).
- Austin Holter ('10) set a single game school record for
completion percentage (15-of-17/.882) against Kenyon (11/10/07).
