THE COLLEGE OF WOOSTER

Founded in 1866, The College of Wooster is an independent, privately-endowed college of liberal arts and sciences. Wooster has 1,800 students with a faculty-student ratio of 12-1, and has a nationally-recognized Independent Study program.

THE SOCCER CAMP

The Wooster Soccer Academy will provide the environment where a young man will receive excellent instruction and supervision. The young soccer players will learn, and improve upon their already-established techniques of dribbling, shooting, passing, heading, and tackling, and then learn how to use these techniques in given tactical situations -- Problem Solving Environment (How? When? Why?).

OUTSTANDING FACILITIES

The Armington Physical Education Center, including an indoor pool, is the focal point for training. And Lowry Center provides the facility for eating and recreation.

MEDICAL FACILITIES

The medical facilities of the Wooster Community Hospital are within one mile of the College campus in case of any emergency. Each camper is covered by accident insurance. (Each camper must have written permission from a doctor to participate in the camp.)

GRADES 4-12

Sessions at the Academy are open to young men who will begin grades 4-12 in 2008.

REGISTRATION AND CHECK-OUT

Final registration is held between noon and 2 p.m. on the Sunday beginning the week of camp. Check in at the Lowry Student Center on The College of Wooster campus. Room assignments will be made at registration. Check-out will be at 12:30 p.m. on. Thursday.

FEE

The fee for a one-week session at The Wooster Soccer Academy is $525. This covers everything but the individual's spending money. A $150 non-refundable deposit must accompany the registration form. The balance can be paid at registration time. However, if the balance is paid in full before May 22, 2008, there will be a $50 discount.

EQUIPMENT

All campers will receive a Soccer Camp T-shirt.

Each camper should bring a soccer ball, tennis shoes, soccer shoes, black shorts, socks, and three additional white Tshirts. Please make sure these items are labeled. Each person should also bring sheets, a light blanket and pillow, plus informal clothes to wear around campus. A window fan may be of benefit in warm weather.

Soccer balls are available for purchase at check-in.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q. What is the ratio of staff to campers?
A. Groups will be divided into a maximum of 15 campers to one staff member. Also provided will be time for individual instruction.

Q. What type of campers attend camp?
A. Our residential camps are designed to teach the young, the intermediate, and advanced player. Groups are arranged by age and skill in their training and games, so that 10-year-olds and 18-year-olds are not together.

Q. What type of supervision do you provide?
A. All activities both on and off the field are supervised by mature and responsible staff members for their entire stay in camp. No one is allowed to leave campus or leave their group during camp. Supervision in the dormitories at night is a premium requirement for our staff.

Q. What do campers do in their free time?
A. There is basically no free time. We provide nearly ten hours a day of enjoyable soccer training; however, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. daily fun supervised activities such as swimming, bowling, and pool are provided.

Q. Are teams welcome?
A. Teams are welcomed at all sessions of camp. A team would be assigned a college team coach and a collegiate soccer player. One coach may attend free with his/her team.

Q. Can parents and coaches come to watch?
A. Parents and coaches are welcome to watch at all times. Feel free to bring your video camera or other camera equipment.
