Three-quarters of The College of Wooster infield were honored on Tuesday, as Jake Frank (Wooster, Ohio / Northwestern), Matt Miller (Millersburg, Ohio / Hiland), and Luke Ullman (Chagrin Falls, Ohio / Kenston) added to their playing resumes by being named to the 2003 All-Mideast Region Team, as determined by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Frank, a sophomore third baseman who was selected North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year and first-team all-conference last week, earns all-region recognition for the second season in a row. After being tabbed with second-team honors as a freshman, Frank went out and hit .434 (62-for-143) with 14 doubles and 11 home runs. He drove in 62 runs, which was the seventh-best total in school history and currently rates him 17th overall in NCAA Div. III in runs batted in (1.44 per game). Frank also was issued a team-leading 33 walks, which helped him compile a .532 on-base percentage - the third-best by a Scot for a single-season.

For Miller, a junior second baseman, it also marks the second time he has been recognized by the region's coaches, as he was also named to the All-Mideast Region Second Team last spring. His .440 batting average (77-for-175) paced Wooster, and the 77 hits marked the sixth-highest total in school history, even though he didn't get a chance to play an extended postseason. Additionally, Miller, whose average currently ranks No. 43 in all of Div. III, led the squad in stolen bases with 15 and had 26 extra-base hits, including 17 doubles and six homers, to go along with a .971 fielding percentage.

One of the most improved players in the region was Ullman, as the junior shortstop went from hitting .298 to .370 (57-for-154) and earning the first postseason honors of his career. Ullman paced the Scots in runs scored with 60 - tied for the sixth-most for a single-season in school history - while 25 of his knocks went for extra bases, highlighted by 16 doubles and seven home runs. Also, he reached base 31 other times - 17 walks and 14 hit by pitches - and produced 42 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 16 attempts.

Wooster concluded the 2003 campaign with a 30-13 overall record - the program's 10th consecutive 30-win season. The Scots won the North Coast Athletic Conference East Division with a 15-1 mark during the regular season, but then were upset by Denison in the NCAC Tournament semifinals 6-8, 10-0, 8-16, and did not receive a bid to the NCAA Regional Championships.
